Artists in Flux: Community, Space, Gentrification – Nov. 23rd
The Parkdale Residents Association is organizing a FREE forum titled “Artists in Flux: Community, Space, Gentrification,” which will take place on Saturday, November 23rd, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at St. Mark’s Church, 201 Cowan Ave.
This forum will explore the critical role of artists in evolving neighbourhoods, focusing on the challenges of housing affordability, gentrification, and the creation of sustainable spaces for creatives.
The event will bring artists, policymakers, community leaders, and advocates together to engage in thoughtful dialogue around these pressing issues.

138 Dowling Ave. Community Consultation – Nov. 19
A virtual pre-application community consultation meeting is set for Tuesday, Nov. 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. To participate, go to https://www.toronto.ca/cpconsultations, find 138 Dowling Ave., and select Register.
The property is currently the Chartwell White Eagle Long-Term Care Residence. White Eagle is a 56-suite multicultural community that accommodates seniors of various levels and supports.
The proposal is to redevelop the current 3-storey property with a 14-storey apartment building with approximately 156 purpose-built rental units. Amenity space on the roof and underground parking will also be included.

West Queen West Heritage Conservation District Community Consultation – Sept. 10
The City will host a Community Consultation Meeting on the proposed West Queen West HCD Plan on September 10, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm at The Theatre Centre (1115 Queen Street West).
Toronto’s Renovictions Bylaw (Have Your Say) – Sept. 5
There is a growing trend of renovictions in Toronto, where a landlord illegitimately evicts a tenant by alleging that tenants need to leave the unit for the landlord to undertake renovations or repairs. The City of Toronto is developing a new bylaw to prevent bad-faith evictions and help maintain affordable homes for Toronto’s residents.
We want to hear from tenants, landlords, the organizations that support them and the public before finalizing the renovictions bylaw. This will help us protect tenants and ensure landlords understand how to follow the new rules. The City will report back with a proposed bylaw by October 30.
The City is hosting six in-person open houses to get your feedback, including one in Ward 4:

Parkdale Music Crawl & Sidewalk Sale – August 24th
Parkdale’s first Music Crawl is a day-long, night-long event of all music styles meant to reinvigorate and remind folks that Parkdale is a place of the arts and music. Pick and choose from a variety of local musical acts from classical to techno DJs, in over 15 venues along Queen West in Parkdale. With a vibrant sidewalk sale and five outdoor busking stations—there is something for everyone!
