Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre
Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre (PQWCHC) is a community-based, non-profit health organization serving the south-mid-west region of Toronto. It provides a wide range of services, including health and dental care, harm reduction, community initiatives, family doctors, and Indigenous Wellness programs.
On the last Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM, PQWCHC hosts a Neighbourhood Meeting to introduce community members to the services provided by its Supervised Consumption Services (SCS).
Despite common misconceptions, SCS do not increase drug use or crime, nor do they attract illicit activity to communities. Instead, they save lives, prevent accidental overdoses, and reduce the spread of infectious diseases. While PQWCHC’s SCS is not among the five sites in Toronto facing closure by the provincial government, it anticipates an increase in demand for its services.
If you’d like to learn more, visit the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre website or attend one of the Monthly Community Meetings.

Date: Saturday, February 22nd 2025
Time: 2:00 PM (1-hour tour)
Starting Point: Toronto Public Library, Parkdale Branch
As BAND Gallery reintroduces ourselves to the community, we invite you to join us for a Black History Month Walking Tour of Parkdale in partnership with the Parkdale Residents’ Association.

Our journey begins at the Parkdale Library, home to the Rita Cox Black and Caribbean Heritage Collection—the largest circulating collection in Canada, with over 16,000 resources celebrating Black and Caribbean stories. From there, we’ll walk through Parkdale, a microcosm of Toronto known for its eclectic charm and immigrant history.
From Dr Anderson Ruffin Abbott to the Weeknd, explore the layers of history that show how the people make Parkdale a hub of resilience, creativity, and cultural exchange.
Please dress warmly—think cosy layers, hats, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
