Help Measure Air & Sound Conditions During FIFA 2026

A University of Toronto’s Positive Zero initiative research team is looking for 1–2 Parkdale residents near the Tyndall Ave. / Spencer Ave. area who may be willing to host a temporary outdoor air quality and noise sensor during the FIFA World Cup period.

The project is studying how large events can affect neighbourhood conditions, such as traffic-related air pollution and sound levels, before, during, and after event activity.

The sensor:
• would be placed outdoors on a balcony, rooftop, or similar space
• requires access to power
• does not record conversations, images, or video
• does not require drilling or permanent installation

Example of the temporary outdoor-monitoring sensor used in the study.

The monitoring period would run for several weeks, with occasional check-ins by the research team.

All findings will be shared in aggregate form only, without identifying homes or host locations.
