An opportunity to work on a community-based arts initiative in downtown Toronto’s west end

Organization Description
Parkdale is a dynamic, creative, eccentric, and historic neighbourhood shaped by a rich diversity of cultures, communities, and perspectives. The Parkdale Residents Association (PRA) is driven by a commitment to this community — to strengthen its distinct spirit, advocate on its behalf, and encourage broad participation in the decisions that shape everyday life.

This year, the PRA is launching PRETTY VACANT — an outdoor art exhibition along Toronto’s Queen Street West streetscape, transforming vacant storefront windows into temporary public art sites.

Pretty Vacant invites artists to celebrate and reflect on the community’s unique identity while engaging with the pressures of rapid urban change. By reclaiming underutilized spaces, the project amplifies artists’ voices and encourages residents and visitors to imagine new possibilities.
