Ontario Place for All is offering this better idea. It’s an invitation to the Province and the City to make a fresh start, together. People already know what Ontario Place for All are against and now are asking, with good reason, what they are for. They offer this proposal as a way forward … for all.
Their proposal is based on leveraging the Ontario Line at both ends, connecting the Don River Valley to the Lake Ontario Waterfront in a way that links these two major natural features. It will revitalize Ontario Place, would help get affordable housing built and enhance the Ontario Science Centre instead of destroying it.
You can VOTE between June 8 and 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at one of these two advance voting locations in Parkdale–High Park Ward: Masaryk-Cowan Community Recreation Centre – 220 Cowan Ave. or Annette Community Recreation Centre – 333 Annette St.
You can visit MY VOTE (https://myvote.toronto.ca/home) to see if you are on the voters’ list or to register to vote. You can also bring one piece of identification (ID) showing your name and qualifying Toronto address.
The new public space is a small area that can accommodate some passive activities and provide improved access to the bridge from the existing sidewalk. Design options for the new public space developed to date accommodate opportunities for:
· Seating, lookouts and rest areas
· Plantings and naturalized features
· Cycling amenities including bike parking and a bike repair station
· Enhanced features such as special lighting and paving materials
Public feedback, technical considerations and City policies and guidelines will be considered in City staff recommendations and City Council decisions.
Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre is proposing to build affordable, supportive housing on site of the Parkdale Health Centre, 1229 Queen St West(SE corner Queen W. and Gwynne Ave.).

Let’s celebrate the rich history, vibrant present, and promising future of this beloved park – Ontario Place. Special performances from Dom Louis, Rheostatics & Sarah Harmer await.
We want to hear your vision for 1117 Queen St W, Lisgar Park and our neighbourhood. The historic Postal Station C at 1117 Queen Street West has been sold by Canada Post and the new owner is proposing to redevelop the building. In one proposal, the owner has offered to make space available for community use in the building in exchange for more height. This version of the new owner’s plan suggests a contribution of (approximately) 1.5 storeys of community space in exchange for a 29-storey building.
The current 2-storey building was built in 1902 and the exterior remains in its original form, except for the back porch/loading dock. Both floors are large open spaces with high ceilings and plenty of natural light.
A small group of local advocates formed the West Queen West Community Post (WQWCP) – and have acted as stewards for the building since its sale was announced in the summer of 2021. This group of volunteers recently succeeded in getting the property designated by the City of Toronto under the Ontario Heritage Act.
WQWCP has put this survey together to engage the community and garner sentiment on a number of issues involving the building itself, Lisgar Park, West Queen West and our wider city.
We’d love to get your opinions about the future of the building and our neighbourhood. We’re looking to surface a collective vision!
The survey should only take a few minutes. You don’t need to answer every question, but the more you share with us the more nuanced our conversations can be with the building owner, City Councillor, and City Planning staff.
