Swansea Historical Society

The Swansea Historical Society was founded in 1985, by a group of individuals with a mutual interest in preserving and promoting the history of Swansea.  We invite you to follow our activities through the Society’s website which is updated on a regular basis with current events.

Archive

The Swansea Historical Society Community Archives are located in the William Small Room on the Ravine level of the Town Hall. The Archives are open to the public from 3:30pm to 7:30pm most Wednesdays from February to June, and May to December.

The Historical Society is very much interested in donations of old photographs and memorabilia.  If you are able to contributehistorical stories or historical information of the Swansea area, please contact us to make an appointment to discuss further. We are interested in hearing from you!

Unfortunately, the Archives remain closed to the public until further notice.  We will advise you when regular Wednesdayopening hours can be resumed.  In the meantime, we will do our best to respond to email or telephone requests forinformation.  Please note that responses may be delayed due to limited access to the Swansea Town Hall files.

Scheduled Meetings

The Historical Society holds it’s monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month during February, March, April, May and October,November, December.  There are no meetings from June to September. 

Meetings begin at 7:30pm with a short business meeting followed by a guest speaker, light refreshments and some additional time allocated toreminisce on the Swansea area/community.  

Our Annual Walk is held on the first Saturday in June.
