This meeting dealt with the formation of waterfront consensus points agreed upon by all 5 ward 14 residents associations, as well as the issue of a broader demand for effective consultation with respect to all waterfront development proposals (affecting the lakeshore from the CNE to the Humber River).

This meeting was held on Monday May 29th at Fern Avenue Public School to discuss parking options for the new restored Palais Royale. (Follow this link for the meeting poster.)

Parking Preference in the Short Term

- Presentation by Area Residents Association Leaders, Councillor Sylvia Watson and City Staff. (wma - 38 minutes)
- Question Period (due to a technical malfunction this recording captured only about 20 minutes of the hour long question period) (wma - 18 minutes).
Towards the end of the meeting a questionnaire was distributed to gauge the opinion of those who attended the meeting. 133 of 150 sheets returned. The results were tabulated and are as follows:
Parking Preference in the Short Term
- 51.9% - Conversion of the southernmost lane of eastbound Lakeshore Blvd., from approximately Ellis Avenue to 100 meters East of the Palais Royale, to curbside public parking during off-peak hours.
- 25.6% - Other options
- 20.3% - Licensing, for private use, of the public parking lot immediately to the west of the Palais Royale for approximately 120 cars.
- 52.6% - Other
- 33.1% - Conversion of the southernmost lane of eastbound Lakeshore Blvd., from approximately Ellis Avenue to 100 meters East of the Palais Royale, to curbside public parking during off-peak hours.
- 9.0% - Conversion of the existing median between Lakeshore Blvd.'s eastbound and westbound lanes to private parking (dedicated to Palais Royale use only) for approximately 130 cars.
- 2.3% - Parking under the willows to the east of the Palais Royale.
